Glossary
The words we use on the site and in the dashboard, without the marketing.
Exit / peer
The address the target sees. On residential and mobile products this is a real device; on datacenter, ISP and dedicated it is a server we operate.
Gateway
The hostname you connect to — res.wproxy.io, dc.wproxy.io and so on. The gateway authenticates you, picks an exit, and tunnels the request.
Sticky session
A username parameter that pins subsequent requests to the same exit until the lifetime expires or the peer drops.
Rotation
The default: every request gets a new exit. Opposite of sticky.
ASN targeting
Pinning exits to a specific network operator (for example AS7922 Comcast). Used when a target treats different ISPs differently.
Proxy user / sub-user
A named set of credentials under your account, with its own limits. One per workload is the usual pattern.
Successful response
A 2xx or 3xx from the target. This is what we bill against on bandwidth products. Blocks, timeouts and CONNECT overhead are not charged.
